Millbrook farmers Market

Sponsored by the Millbrook Business Association, the Millbrook Farmers Market is one of the oldest farmers markets in the Hudson Valley, dating back nearly three decades. Stonewood Farm co-owner Ken Holzberg sits on the Board of the Business Association and chairs its Farmers Market Subcommittee. The Subcommittee members work hard each season to ensure that the Farmers Market is the center of our community, bringing together locals, weekenders, and visitors for a fun and delicious experience.

first harvest pantry

A core tenet of Stonewood Farm’s mission is to provide wholesome food to our neighbors who have the least access to it. In 2016, we opened the doors to the First Harvest Pantry with our friends at neighboring Walbridge Farm and Lyall Federated Church. Every week throughout the growing season, we donate a portion of the produce we grow to First Harvest.

Millbrook Central School District Wellness Committee

Stonewood Farm is a member of the Millbrook Central School District’s Wellness Committee. In 2016, we began working with the Committee to develop a small community garden at the school as part of their larger Wellness Program. With Stonewood’s assistance in planning, growing, and donating needed supplies, this vegetable garden will feed the students, connect them to food and nature, and serve as an interactive, practical educational tool.

Community Events

Fundraising Events

We use our bounty to raise money for local causes, such as the tour and dinner we recently hosted on the Farm to benefit the Millbrook Garden Club.

Collaborations with Local Groups and Businesses

We’re always eager to work with other local groups and businesses to share our knowledge about farming and food justice. Recent presentations by Stonewood at the local Fusilettes womens club meeting and at the Millbrook Golf and Tennis Club farm-to-table dinner were great successes.

Collaboration on Millbrook Farmers Market Events

We work closely with the Market Manager and local businesses to create fun and educational Farmers Market activities. Collaborating with local Merritt Bookstore, we hosted Food Network’s celebrity chef Amanda Freitag for a well-attended book signing and cooking demonstration at the Market featuring Stonewood’s produce.
